<sub>Once upon a time,
she was beautiful.
But then again,
that was only the beginning

Tangled in an intricate web,
both of you were slowly drowning.
Intoxicated by the lies and addicted to the deceit-
unable to come up for breath,
together you would fall deeper into the deluge,
through the hidden depths of your mind.
For the moment your scathing fingertips brushed,
nothing would be of concern
save the poisoned lust in your hearts,
and the sickening impulses of your bodies.

The moon would always cover for you,
through each and every sullen night.
It would watch in shame and shake its head
but nevertheless remained your ally.
And then through the darkness you would feel her there
a tepid presence, breathing heavily -
silent but deadly.
The fear was the warmth, and the guilt the passion.
They translated justly into your secret language.

And as you lay dangerously entwined -
as the world faded, and the night overcame,
all that existed were the dreams of freedom and bliss;
nightmares in another life, trapped within another world.
But when the suffocating sun arrived to claim its reign,
both your vile souls would be quick to depart.

Then you'd watch her,
- often close enough to smell her scent.
sharing sweet kisses, gifts and promises,
and always in the strong arms of someone you both loved.
The protective hold of the only being in the dying world,
that would ever trust you with their life.

But in realm with that fairytale,
the dream would end at midnight -
and running away from her prince,
she'd come to you quickly with the stars overhead.
The moon would turn its head, and as it grew black,
you'd already be together, sinning with bitter ecstasy.
Faster and faster, together at last.
But not once were it a happy ever after,
for she was always careful to never leave a glass slipper.

Yes, she was beautiful, but she smiled so painfully.
And you never existed within the spectrum of the rainbow.
So alongside every secret kiss,
and every hidden night burdened with betrayal
the end began to dawn near.
One morning the glass house would fall in,
and shatter you both.

So, soon it would be time for one final good-bye.
A farewell to vivid delusions.
And the start of something old.
But until then both of you understood perfectly.
Because she was beautiful,
and the moon would always be there-
ready for that final happily every after.</sub>
